the health care legislation has passed the house of representatives. finally. it's not a perfect bill. but it's a good bill. here's some of what it does (or will do, rather, when the senate and the president ratify it) -
1 it provides health care to 96% of americans (that's 35,000,000 more americans than currently have health care)
2 it prevents insurance companies from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions.
3 it forces insurance companies to compete with each other and with the federal government in offering policies and coverage.
4 it prevents insurance companies from charging more based on the gender of the applicant and here's the great one:
5 it will remove the anti-trust exemption that insurance companies have 'enjoyed' for a long time. this means that insurance companies can be sued for collusion the same way companies in any other industry can.
it's a good day for the 35,000,000 americans who are currently uninsured, and it's a bad day for the insurance companies. hopefully you, like me, are on the side of the 35,000,000 americans who will now have health insurance. and hopefully you, like me, are on the side of the 200,000,000 americans who will no longer be denied coverage based on pre-existing conditions. unless you're a republican, then you're on the side of the insurance companies who have been funneling money into republican campaigns for decades. and if someone says 'i don't want my insurance provided by government bureaucrats' you can say, 'ok, so you'd rather your insurance be provided by insurance company bureaucrats who make bonuses by denying people coverage?' there's been so much misinformation circulating around this legislation (misinformation spread by republicans who have received hundreds of millions of dollars from insurance companies), so it's nice that the bill has finally passed the house of representatives.

I once had to get at picture ID made for child to be able to take the SAT in 7th grade for a gifted program. I had the birth certificate and the SS number but not the card. They would not accept this. I then produced within a half-hour after a trip to my accountant’s office a tax record bearing the names of all of our children (including this one) with their SS numbers showing they were still living in the county of birth and with both biological parents and had the same “mama and daddy” and same last name as the mama and daddy. This is really beating the odds in our small town and county. They still would not accept this! They later accepted a school transcript for my child to get his picture ID. I was so frustrated as I was not even applying for any monetary benefits, right to drive nor to vote! FF to 2009. Grr!!!

I watched Cspan all day on nov. 7th as the debate was happening. I just couldn't bring myself to look away. I am for the bill as long as they get rid of putting me in jail if I still do not get insured. I feel as though that is non-sense. I know that it is smart to have health insurance but I DO NOT believe it should be mandated. I could be fiend 2,500 dollors if this bill passes as is and if by 2013 I still do not have insurance. Literally, that is the ONLY problem I have with it. Other than that HEALTH REFORM IS LONG OVERDUE!

Health Care Reform
While I agree the health care industry in this country is horrible, I'm not sure the new health care reform plan is the answer. One aspect of it scares the poop out of me: those that do not have insurance will be fined...and fined heavily! What the heck!! If someone is at the poverty level of this country or below and who cannot afford health care will be fined. Please please tell me how that is fair, right and moral?! A few years ago I found myself in the unfornuate position of bringing in less than $1000 a month with $2100 a month in bills. I was forced into bankruptcy. Health care would have cost me $2800 a month. Tell me, how was I supposed to afford that with less than $1000 a month coming in? If the health care reform was in place during that scary time for me on top of that I would have been fined! We all need to read every word of that bill and understand every world. Remember, politicians wrote it and there is no such thing as an honest politician. They are all legal liars!!

I've come to believe that insurance, as a profit venture, ia a racket and should be treated as such.
What other business would a cutomer pay a such a huge monthly fee for hope of a chance to receive a service in return? What if you paid $400 to your cable company each month and their board of directors decided what channels, if any, you get to view that month based on their current profit margins? What if your power company decided you are too high risk because you just bought a new jumbo flat-screen television and dropped you as a customer after receiving thousands of dollars from you without providing any service?
Some people argue that for-profit insurance is a legitimate business and the government should not regulate it. Bull$H#T! It is only allowed to exist because the government IS protecting it by not regulating it equally as it does with other similar businesses. Would you feel as safe flying if there were no FAA? How about buying food or drugs without oversight of the FDA? Some businesses are just too risky and/or have too much potential liability and recourse to not be regulated. Our health is one of those businesses.

Health care, although I agree some parts about it, i think health care in american is not gonna work out. Other countries, not european, but some asian countries, have decent health care system. But it is because their whole system was swapted by ww2, but not in US. The health care is gonna mess up to economy. Japan and Korea, especially, have successful health care system because they are small country. However, US is not. In my eyes, it just seems that Democrats' votes come from cities, so i guess it is good for them, but not good for rep or economy. Just think about it. Forced to buy health care, which dosent make sense, and those 1 trillion dollars will be coming out of some what rich peoples' pocket. ENough of Robbin Hood.
