i added a few more songs to my myspace profile.

i added a few more songs to my myspace profile.
was i the last person to find out that you can have 6 songs up there?
i also took at look at the genre choices that are available and made
the appropriate changes/choices.
i picked the 3 genre's that make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
and what's odd is that of the 18,000 genre's that the nice people at myspace
make available to musicians they somehow forgot to include 'disco'.
maybe someone could let the myspace technical people know
that while 'acoustimatic/tape-music' is a listed genre, 'disco' is not.
this seems like a glaring oversight as everyone loves disco.
ok, allow me to rephrase that, i love disco.
and my friends seem to like it a lot, too.
i hope that you're having a nice holiday time.
and hopefully i'll see you new years eve at studio b in greenpoint.
it has the makings of a really fun night(said fun greatly enhanced by the fact
that it only involves a taxi ride to get home afterwards, and not an airplane. see,
i'm nothing if not provincial.).
in other news i was just watching a national geographic special on the
other planets in our solar system.
note to self: don't try to live anywhere except for earth.
as exotic as living on, say, jupiter might seem, said exotic-ism might be tempered
by the fact that it is actually just toxic gas and a mercury core with a density that
is 14,000 times that of our friendly little earth.
maybe a nice place to visit, but not exactly somewhere you might think
about settling down and raising a family.

happy holidays!

happy holidays!
regardless of what you're celebrating, happy holidays!
yee-haw, holidays!
some suggestions for a happy holiday season:
beer
paintball
and, well, that's all i can come up with right now.
i've never actually played paintball.
i know, i haven't lived.
maybe that will be my new years resolution: paintball.
last year my resolution was to worry less.
that didn't work out too well.
i hope that you're with family and friends, unless you have crummy family and
friends, then i hope that you're happily ensconced in the company of complete
strangers.
i just hope you're happy, regardless of who you're with.
in other news: i saw the golden compass, it was good, why didn't it do well?
did the accents confuse american young'n's?
one more time: happy christmas or saturnalia or channukah or kwanzaa(invented
in 1966 apparently, but in no way less of a holiday than the others)or whatever
holiday you feel like celebrating. the great thing about all of the december holidays
is that they all are equally removed from the faiths that they purportedly celebrate(unless
someone can explain to me how a fat old guy riding nordic deer on the winter solstice is a celebration
of the summertime birth of christ in israel...not criticizing, i actually love the fun and awesome and nonsensical trappings of
christmas and how utterly arbitrary they are, really.).
and, to paraphrase the teachings of almost every world religion: be nice to each other.
happy holidays.

rarely do things in the world of politics make me outraged and sick to my stomach and sad all at the same time.

rarely do things in the world of politics make me outraged and sick to my stomach and sad all at the same time.
but this unfolding story with mike huckabee(republican governor of arkansas and presidential contender)has done all three.
here's the story:
a serial rapist, wayne dumond, was jailed in arkansas for raping multiple women(one of whom was bill clinton's niece).
he was a member of a conservative baptist church, and the right wing, republican, evangelical community lobbied to have him released from prison, even though he was a convicted rapist.
mike huckabee paroled him. after being paroled by mike huckabee wayne dumond then went on to rape and kill at least 2 more women.
now mike huckabee is trying to backtrack and say that he didn't support wayne dumond's parole.
but the truth is that mike huckabee paroled him even after receiving many letters from wayne
dumond's victims begging mike huckabee to keep wayne dumond in prison.
in fact, mike huckabee wrote a letter to serial rapist wayne dumond in prison that stated, and this
is a verbatim quote:

"Dear Wayne, My desire is that you be released from prison."

the simple fact is that mike huckabee responded to right-wing, republican, evangelical pressure
and paroled a serial rapist who then went on to rape and kill 2 more women after being paroled.
if mike huckabee hadn't paroled wayne dumond these 2 women would still be alive.
it's that simple.
and it's my simple belief that mike huckabee should resign from politics and end his
presidential campaign.

some music related things:

some music related things:

1-we just released the first limited edition single from 'last night'. it's vinyl only, and we've only pressed up 2,000 copies.

a-side: 'everyday it's 1989'
b-side: 'the stars'

maybe it'll end up as a collectors item. or maybe it'll end up collecting dust in the goodwill vinyl bin on 4th avenue and 12th street. personally i'm hoping for the former, but eh, who knows?

2-the line-up for 'degenerates' at hiro on thursday is:

holy ghost(dfa)
princess superstar
me
jacques and justin(dfa)

the last 2 degenerates were really fun, and i think that this one will be particularly good.
it starts around 11 and ends around 4.

3-if you're coming to the guggenheim on friday to see the little death
we're doing 2 sets.
one at 9 and one at 11. and michael t from motherfucker will be dj'ing as well.
again, it should be fun night, even if the acoustics in the guggenheim aren't exactly ideal.

4-i'm not sure if i mentioned this, but i'll be dj'ing with princess superstar and holy ghost in miami on saturday night, as part of art basel. it's at 60 n.e 11th st, studio a. and, for the third time, this should be really fun, too.

i need to think of other adjectives besides 'fun' and 'nice'.
but these are good waspy adjectives, as they're fairly reserved, as all good wasps should be.
ok, hopefully i'll see you at one or more of these fun and nice events.

'35 minutes'

oh, i put up a song on myspace called '35 minutes'. it was the hidden bonus track on 'hotel' and i always liked it but because it was a hidden track i don't know if anyone ever actually heard it.
so now it'll be up on myspace for a little while.
it's just a simple and naive little ambient track.
i hope you like it.
thanks
