What the Western societies need to do is to cut down on consuming meat and other animal products, and that would help the environment and animals hugely. its somewhat unrealistic to call for everyone to become vegans. Although I am a vegan (actually, a freegan) and I dont find it difficult at all. meat is bad for your body and soul.

it's gonna be hard.

I'd like to think I have a foot in both camps here - I eat meat, and I'm passionate about green issues. for about a month and a half now I have kept Meatless Mondays, and I intend to increase to 2 or more meatless days per week in the near future.

To say that everyone has to shift to a vegan lifestyle period is unrealistic - meat eating is too ingrained in our culture, and it'd take far longer to acheive this than we have to save the planet. The real issue as I see it is population growth - we are already overpopulated, and even at our current level, even a vegan diet based on staple foods will not be able to feed us all once fossil fuels run out.

So unless we find some way to slow down the population explosion - a taboo subject at best, we might as well keep on eating meat and driving Hummers.

As I mentioned on Facebook though I would have loved it even more if the writer would have added some mention of the importance of being mindful of the lives that are lost...that of the Animals-Compassion, Love, Cruelty Freeism.

I love this article, because it is wonderful news, it just could have been written even better had the technicalities not forgotten the lives lost in the process of the environmental disaster. *You* know what I mean. I cannot explain it very well in words, but *you* know what I mean. C'mon now, you know I love you, but this I have to say is ridiculous! Climate change has always happened, throughout history there has been climate change! That is just what the planet does... over time, it changes! It has nothing to do with humanity's decidions, If we weren't here at all the climate of this planet would still be changing! You have to know, №1 commenter, that human developed couse of meat that they began to eat. All people vegans? Cool, lets go back to the agroculture, real fun to run with the hummer. Ofcourse i'm a bit rude, but dude, meat is all what smart guys needs to keep up his mind on top.
