just leaving buenos aires now and heading to bogota. here are some random pictures.
1-flying over the andes from santiago to buenos aires (my question: why are there no plants?) and then a bunch of pictures from last night in buenos aires (3 of which were supposed to be panorama shots, as the venue was very wide, but i couldn't figure out how to panorama them, insofar as 'panorama' can be used as a verb).
ok, see you soon in bogota.

Jordan acknowledged he hasn't had as much contact with Woods since his sex scandal hit in November. "Nike Shox Shoes's not as competitive," Jordan said. "Freddie's totally relaxed and enjoying himself and Nike Airmax Tailwind so am I." Quail Hollow marks Woods' first event since his return last month at the Masters. Palin's appearance will mark a detour from shock shoes from nike conservative enclaves like Orange County, and Redding, Calif.
Moby Rocker in Argentina!
hello Moby,
I went to your concert at the Luna Park and it was awesome!!!
I loved the voices of all of you and I am waiting for your next concert here in Argentina!!
I danced all your songs since I was 3.
See you soon
By the way....
Love the pics! The first one almost looks like a magnificent painting... the third 1 i also really like. The fans look like they are having a blast in the third photo and i like the green lighting of the second section... how it separates the 1st from the 2nd section looks really artistic and you can tell it was done in such a natural way...

My house just got broken into...
Moby, I am from Arizona!
I am agaisnt the immigration law because my house just got broken into by a young man around my age scared to death (as was I of course), the only crime of which he probably committed was being here illeagally! I felt so bad for him. I am so glad I was not here alone. We could not get in trouble with the law so other members of my house ushered him out... I just want to pray for him. He looked so scared, as scared as I was that he was even there, in my hallway, a stranger! a stranger i now wish the best of luck to. This immigration law is bullshit! It is making things worse!

Bogota will be green enough for you
I'm sure you will see enough green in Bogota and its surroundings. You probably were flying over the desert, also Bolivia has few water resources and their land is pretty desert. North or Argentina for example is not that green as well, regions like Salta and Jujuy are pretty similar with Bolivia, but in Colombia you can find all, the diversity there and the richness of the land make of this country something unbelievable. Just want to add for future travelers a link for activities in Buenos Aires that can be helpful www.bsas4u.com
Enjoy Colombia!!!
rain shadow
no plants because much of the Andes is desert like. As air moves from the ocean onto land it has to gain significant elevation to get over the mountains. As the air rises it cools and loses its ability to hold moisture so the moisture all gets wrung out and inland areas are dry. Same reason it is dry east of the Sierras and drier on the Colorado front range. That's my understanding of it anyway.
BA performance

Wow, the Ande's looks like parts of Utah my love......
And as I mentioned to *you* before, I sooooo didn't like the fact that those parts of Utah didn't have any vegetation and most especially trees......as I love, as *you* love trees ever so much........
I didn't realize that if a place snows so much, there is no vegetation. Wow, that makes sense. I don't know why I didn't know that before. I guess I've been so blessed living places that eventually have sunlight and warm days, that I have never seen any longterm damage from cold. I've seen dear flowers die, but they always come back to life during the next growing season, so wow, this is very sad actually to know there are places in the world that don't have a chance of having life in them, because they are so cold....Tis makes me think of your song 'When it's cold I feel like I'm going to die'....Angel Kisses thank *you* for opening my eyes to the reality of certain things I didn't know Richard Darling.....xo's
Your audiences are always so amazing. *You* are sooooo loved sweetness!!!!
I Love, Love, Love *You* With All My Heart,
Your Eternal Love Rachelle

Love seeing the world through your eyes. The first picture is so great. I love bare mountains. No plants needed...... get to see all textures; grooves & colors.
...... & Great crowd panorama sort of shot/s.
Happy travels! Come back to the U.S already!!!!!!! ; )

i commented initially about the missing glaciers, but it really brought me down. so i'll jus' say: yo moby, whattup papi. :p
just keep praying, moby
i know all the signs say doom, but when we cannot see a way, God makes the way. Rest in knowing u do what u can and are loved dearly.
if there is a chance we can save ourselves, we have to face it
i know that finding out about and focusing on the global climate meltdown that is just beginning to take place can be terrifying and really depressing, but unless large quantities of us can bring ourselves to properly face it (which requires being able to withstand the feelings of terror and gloom etc), then we don't stand a hope in hell of being able to avoid catastrophe.
we need to be brave.
apparantly some of the jewish people who survived the holocaust in germany were the ones who could clearly see what was going on soon enough, who were still able to get a grip, stay out of denial and take the necessary actions required to stay alive. we need to be like that.
if you're not feeling that brave or strong at the moment, maybe come back to read the information below on another day.
Start here...
Believe in God. Pray. Pray that God gives you the victory because what you are doing is right (out of love). Tell God why what is happening to this world hurts you. Let God know you are here to help. But believe, and then thank God for really being there all along. Take action with the faith that God loves you. God bless you.
if you've got a good connection, try informing god about this
there is shelf of subsea permafrost jutting out from Siberia which is melting and releasing methane. Stored underneath that there is a large amount of extra methane which has been accumulating under pressure. If the subsea shelf of permafrost melts sufficiently, or cracks or whatever, large amounts of methane will get released very very fast.
In fact the whole of the Arctic region is going into meltdown at the moment because the average temperatures of that region have already risen by 3-5 degrees celsuis, well beyond the 2 degree upper maximum limit of temperature rise that the IPCC scientists say is required to save us from catastrophe.
So methane is coming up from the shallow ocean bottom in various places within the Arctic circle (not just off the coast of Siberia), and the permafrost on the land is also melting and many lakes have increased five times in size and methane is bubbling up out of them.
Data about this phenomena has been getting collected by scientists since the last IPCC report was released, and articles about it are only just beginning to get published in the peer reviewed scientific journals from which the IPCC panel gather their information.
If certain physically viable and beneficial changes to human activities are not successfully made within about 5 years, then we are in for a very very different kind of climate on this planet. It will take a well co-ordinated significant effort on the part of governments and societies around the world, and if you happen to doubt that governments and societies around the world will be able to get it together to make the necessary changes within a very short time frame, then preparing for survival in very difficult circumstances might be the next best thing.
I don't believe that kicking back and waiting for any god to intervene and save us is a good plan. Where was god when the bombs got dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
But I do believe that conveying clear information about what our situation here on Earth is, to any Gods or protective spiritual beings that you are in connection with may be a worthwhile activity. I have come to the conclusion that there is a gap in understanding between them and the real nature of the physical earth. There is certainly a heap of mis-information given out by large numbers of spiritual teachers around the world, who tend to deny that the physical world has powers of it's own.
Got to go eat breakfast!!
ok i finally got cojones to read it.
So essentially what you're saying is that the feedback loop has already begun which means everything will now spiral wickedly out of control. I don't see the harm in prayer. I'll be praying. :(
The irony is that these selfish narcissistic idiots on top running the show from the CEOs to the Wall Street bankers don't realize they're all competing to see who can eat up all the earth's resources the quickest. cancer cancer cancer. But they really do hold themselves in very high esteem. And God forbid you are a whistleblower, you may never work again. When it comes to protecting financial wealth, the layers of corruption are like an onion. Much of the time i feel hopeless, but i do what i can.
(afterthought: i can just see exxon/mobil trying to capture the methane gas and sell it to the public. $$$$)
So what should happen now?
I think the corporations responsible should be sued for punitive damages, bankrupted, and all that money should go to sustainability projects.
physically at least it's probably not too late because...
apparently a full third of the current greenhouse effect is being caused by black soot emissions. black soot is a heating aerosol and only stays in the atmosphere for about ten days before it gets washed out by rain. this means that if all black soot emissions were stopped, temperature increases caused by emissions would go down by a third pretty quickly.
the other thing that might turn things around within a sufficiently short time frame is making changes to agricultural practices that can greatly increase the capacity of the land to serve as a carbon sink, even within a year. there is heaps of amazing information about that on here - www.amazingcarbon.com
one thing that helps me to have hope is believing that once everyone realises that catastrophic changes may be upon is in the near future (rather than in 50-100 years) even those most greedy of people profiting out of certain industries might prefer to make changes.
I'm supposed to be writing a magazine article so I'd better stop writing on here and get on with that instead!!
thanks for the dialogue!
and godspeed! ;-)
Awesome concert
Moby, your concert last night was amazing!!! I danced my a** off and sang so loud I can barely speak today!!
I especially liked the mood change between "Why does my heart..." and "Raining again," and "Feeling so real" was the perfect song for the end, I kept on singing it in my mind for hours.
Thanks for an unforgettable night.
Regarding your question on the Andes mountains, there are no plants because there is snow up there most of the year (I am actually astonished there is none now... global warming, anybody?)
Hope you come back soon to visit your family and do more concerts!
Love from Argentina,
Mara
