you'd think it would be simple to put some simple video up on my internet machine blog. but no, it isn't. or, rather, it isn't simple for me. i was trying to put up a very rough sitting-in-front-of-the-computer version of 'walk with me' and i couldn't. i blame myself.
i just got back to nyc and it's 7 degrees (that's -16 centigrade) and that means it's cold and people are whimpering on the street with sadness and cold fueled ennui. but i'm happy to be back in nyc, even if it was sunny and cloudless in l.a today. after being away from nyc for a while i've realized that the best thing about nyc is that you can walk everywhere. being in l.a without a car or drivers license was interesting, but kind of frustrating. it's nice to be a mobile pedestrian again.
i'm trying to figure out which songs to work on acoustically/orchestrally. some new ones. some old ones. i did a cover of 'will the circle be unbroken' with my friend melody that i really like, so maybe we'll work on that. it's such a sad song (probably why i like it, as i tend to like sad songs a bit too much).
tomorrow when i'm in my studio and the sun is up (in theory) i'll send some pictures of me working in the studio (maybe that is unbelievably tedious, i don't know). i haven't shaved in a while so i look like a homeless alcoholic, that's my caveat. more tomorrow.

-album my darling would be 'Homeward Angel'. Sighs....and *you* know how much I absolutely adore 'Everloving'. Yes, Indeed, I do think those two songs would be ever so appreciated by me Mo. Oh and lest not forget your beautiful song 'Into the Blue'. Oh my, I could go on and on forever with more and more songs of yours that I love so much and would love for *you* to do, but I want *you* to be able to choose too, of course. It would be rood of me to ask for too much. I would love to hear you sing in all of the songs on your new album. I so love your voice and there is something 'extra special' about *you* singing, rather than having other's sing on your behalf. I mean, by all means, have other's help and incorporate their voices in your songs, but *you* should really be singing on all of them. That would be ever so beautiful darling!!!!!

the making of 'Earthlings'... did this occur to you too?
I hope you don't mind that this is off topic.
I watched the first part of the film 'Earthlings' last night and felt heartbroken seeing that live dog being put into the garbage truck. Wow, that really made me cry.
It didn't occur to me at first, but after I woke up this morning it occured to me that the people who filmed that didn't try to stop it from happening, which makes it seem all the more heartbreaking. Sure it had emotional impact, to see what becomes of some animals that are supposed to be pets, but it seems to me that there was evidence right there, of "speciesism" in the fact that the people who filmed it did not try to stop it from happening and offer to take the dog away themselves.
Imagine a person doing filming for a documentary on child abuse and she or he happens to witness a young child, gagged and tied up, put into a box, then the box put into the rubbish can just as the garbage truck is coming on down the road. There would be an absolute responsibility of course, for that person to take action to stop the child from being crushed to death inside the garbage truck. No-one shooting for a documentary on child abuse would stand back and passively film a live (or dead) child being put into a garbage truck.
I think an even better approach to the making of a film like that would have been to catch some communications on film. Like say, for example some communication between the people who happened to be there filming, and those who were about to put that living dog into the garbage truck, and then a filming of the more compassionate humans offering to take the dog away.
I might write to Shaun Monson about this some day. Feel free to forward this on to him if you like.
I am assuming here, that the person who filmed that was out there doing filming especially for 'Earthlings'. But maybe they got that piece of footage from someone else.
Of course I appreciate the very good intention behind the making of the film, and in many ways, so far it seems a brilliant film.
