of course the right wing republicans are upset (the same republicans who cheered when america lost its olympic bid), putting them in the same camp as hamas, the taliban, and al qaeda, who have all expressed dismay that president obama has won the nobel peace prize.

Did he solved Iran or North Korea nuclear threats? No, not even close. So why he got PEACE prize, when country he leads still involved in 2 wars? The only thing he achieved - he's first black US President. Now every person that supports Obama is doing the same thing the republicans did with Bush: support him no matter if things were done right or not.
He clearly doesn't deserve the price, YET! I'm not saying he's a bad person, I'm just saying the other candidates (except for the senator maybe) deserved it more!

i actually think it is a shame and an insult to the other candidates.
i don't dislike the guy but come on.... give him some time to prove if he is that good and then give him the nobel in 20 years, if he deserves it. so far his greatest merit is being not as awful as bush (easy), just like president zapatero was huge because aznar was despicable.
it is obviously not obama's fault, as he has just been voted by the nobel price committee, and i actually think it can be bad for his career.
i believe the people who have the privilege to vote for the nobel price have a greater responsability than being dragged by the media.

- hu jia (pacifist chinese dissident, tibetan; wife and daughter made disappear by chinese government the day before chinese olympics started)
- morgan tsvangirai (prime minister of zimbabwe, arrested several times, beaten to an inch of his death by mugabe etc)
- sima samar (afgani dr, fights for women's right i.e. against being forced to wear a burqa)
- piedad córdoba ruiz (colombian senator, collaborated to free some farc prisoners, although a bit controversial)
really, come on....
