just arrived in sweden.

just arrived in sweden. it always amazes me that a country of 8 (or 12?) million people would create the volvo, the saab, ikea, abba, backstreet boys and n*sync, ericsson, and more graphic designers and video directors per square inch than any other country on the planet. i wonder if kids in swedish schools start studying international business and contemporary media when they're in primary school?

tomorrow we're playing a concert for the european union and mtv (strange bedfellows, sort of) at the rival theater (oh, 'REE-val', just fyi). a small, seated show in a really nice old theater (similar to what we did in berlin and barcelona and amsterdam and paris and london).

it's a concert to draw attention to and benefit the european union's climate change initiative. which i'm happy to talk about as long as no one minds me mentioning that 24% of climate change is the result of animal production (according to a united nations report a few years ago).

i asked al gore about why he didn't mention this in an 'inconvenient truth' (as animal production is responsible for more greenhouse gases than every car, bus, truck, bus, plane, boat on the planet COMBINED). he answered honestly, basically saying that getting people to drive a hybrid car isn't that difficult. getting people to give up animal products is almost impossible. i appreciated his honesty. so i guess i'll be talking about climate change tomorrow, and i guess i'll have to mention the most inconvenient of inconvenient truths, that you can't talk seriously about climate change and global warming without looking at the role of animal production (animal production being responsible for 24% of greenhouse gas emissions and also the #1 cause of deforestation in the rainforest).

i'm not saying everyone needs to suddenly become vegan (although that would solve an awful lot of problems...), i'm just saying that it's patently absurd to talk about dealing with climate change and not talk about animal production. it's akin to talking about diabetes to someone without suggesting they stop eating every meal at denny's. if somehow tomorrow we magically stopped burning coal and oil for power and heating and somehow magically stopped all animal production we would most likely cut the production of greenhouse gases by 85%. hybrid cars are great. compact fluorescent lightbulbs are great. but any serious conversation about climate change and global warming has to involve the role of animal production (again, 24% of all greenhouse gases come from animal production). sorry to be a cassandra, but i just don't know how anyone can consider themselves an environmentalist without looking objectively at all of the variables that are contributing to environmental degradation and climate change.

thanks

GREAT CONCERT !!!

Hej Moby,

thank you so much for the very impressive concert in Stockholm. The evening I will not forget a long time.

Your music touches on the inside, your songs have a depth and so many facets. They are for me with nothing comparable.

Your singers, especially once Kelli Scarr, has a fantastic voice and a charismatic, she was the perfect choice for all of her songs are sung. Joy is also excellent and a real showtalent :-).

Your music is so phantastic, my friends and I came specially from Switzerland to get to hear. Fortunately, was at the end - albeit much too late - even danced and hopped :-) (we had to sign that we do not do this...,unfortunately, we have read the text, we had to sign ;-)).

The climate is a serious issue and your commitment is remarkable. I hope you reach many many people.

Please (PLEASE) give a live DVD of the evening in the sale.
Perhaps can be a part of the proceeds made available to little projects which are to serve the climate.

Wish you all the best
Cory

I don't think I will ever be at such a heartwarming consert again. Thank you also for being such an inspiration for the rest of us, and using the fact that people listen to what you have to say because you made some albums, great ones btw.
Please come back to Sweden soon, otherwise I'll catch you out there somewhere in the world in the future.
Keep it up always

Well, I should skip to the point. After the consert I asked everyone after her so I could thank her personally. She was supposed to try to get an autograpf for me but unfortunally she wasn´t there and every gard or person I asked was really unpleasent. So, now I´m begging you to send me an autograpf. I´t would mean so much to me! Yesterday when I was home again I just felt emtyp and sad inside, I had really hoped for a autograpf. So please, could you help me?

Save Japan's Dolphins

Hey Moby,
Love your work! I hope you don't think this is too much of an aside but I am trying to raise awareness that more than 20,000 dolphins in Japan are about to be slaughtered.

The 'cull' begins in September in Taiji, Japan and the whole horrific secret has been exposed in Louie Psiyohos’ film The Cove (www.thecovemovie.com)

I've been running a campaign that includes links to a petition (http://www.takepart.com/thecove/) and how to donate (www.savejapandolphins.org). And I just sent emails asking the councillors of the city of Broome (Australia) sister city to Taiji (http://tinyurl.com/nnz99y) to ask them to put pressure on the local Japanese government.

We just gotta change how we treat animals and get a reprieve for the dolphins. They are so sweet and sentient! If the dolphins aren't butchered in the slaughter some get shipped off to theme parks to 'entertain' us. It sickens me how brutish our species is!

The whole issue of animal welfare is dear to me and although I enjoy meat I now moderate my intake for political reasons.

I just don;t want to leave this world being part of massive unnecessary slaughter and devastating the environment because of my personal greed or temporary visceral enjoyment.

As Princess Leia once said to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Can ya help dude, please?
*hugs* rosiex

Hello.

Veganism is one of those points that can really bring out our differences, just like politics, sex and marriage. our political ideas, who we marry, and what we eat are special personal choices that we make. I respect your ideas and choices, and might I add that you are very interesting. We live in a diverse and creative world and if we didn't have irregularities and differences life wouldn't be so exciting. I don't think that anyone should be upset at you for expressing any of your ideas. Plus, reducing your meat intake doesn't necessarily mean converting to veganism. But converting would not be an easy task. Like anything else, it all begins with one small step and improvement is measured with time. I'm not a vegan. I don't eat red meat though. But more power to those that are vegan and exercise such self-discipline. (which actually makes me feel like I am not trying hard enough)
Thanks, Moby! :)

The problem goes beyond...

While humans are not aware of they are the main causes of global climate change, the problem will continue to grow...
It's very sad.

I wish you success in your presentations, your a great musician!!!

By the way, when you will come to Chile again? the Andes Mountains are waiting for you and your chileans fans too!!

A big hug for you,

Marcela.

Thank you for coming, and please come back some day

Just wanted to say thank you for a great concert. A small, seated yes, but really great with a small-town exclusiveness to it.
You have to forgive us for sitting down almost to the very end, but we learn, so if you return we'll have a chance to give you better support.
Thank you very much. A wonderful perfomance indeed.

Hope you get a chance to see Stockholm, enjoy a walk along Monteliusvägen and perhaps check out the Hermans restaurant.

Do come back.

Thanks,
Johan

Thank you for the great concert

I've just come home from the concert in Stockholm. It was the greatest concert I've ever seen. You are the best! I am so happy that you came to Sweden and hope you will come back soon. Love!

You forgot that there is no

You forgot that there is no correlation between CO2 and temperature. Oceans and volcanoes CO2 output turn human CO2 output into small fractions. PLUS CO2's effect as a greenhouse gas is dwarfed by others, such as water vapour. Now earth has begun cooling, if you haven't noticed. They changed the name from 'global warming' to 'climate change' to account for that discrepancy.

The sun caused the temperature increase. You know, that huge fiery beast next to us? Sunspot cycles. Those cycles are correlated to temperature, NOT CO2, which is actually a product of temperature, not vice versa. Neptunes moon is melting, how are cars causing that?

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.Blogs&Conten...

These corporate scumbags are piggybacking on just causes like the environmental movement, and they cloak themselves so well that you can't criticize them without seemingly criticizing the movement. Al Gore is scum, and Moby, you are a great decent man who is simply being lied to. You should have asked him how much he stands to profit off the carbon tax and the cap and trade bill. You should ask him what's his game when he's peddling taxes for every person on earth which have been proven will not reduce CO2 significantly.

You always have to ask 'what is this person gaining from this?' when they're professing their stance on a major issue. Because Gore stands to gain lots from his lies.

And if you notice, Gore's answer is very weak. Moby unwittingly struck on one of Gore's lies, and his response is 'well, we can't get people to change'. His whole message is for us to undergo massive change! Before the planet dies! Gah!

But no, he plays up humans roles in CO2 production so we all feel real guilty and accept a carbon tax so they can further reduce the middle class.

Watch the Great Global Warming Swindle for an introduction. And no, its not funded by Big Oil and Republicans. Although that would be easier to believe than the fact that we're being lied to about everything. This is not a message of fearmongering, I'm asking for you to do your research using reason and logic, not preconceived notions the media has put in your head.

Are BB & NSYNC immigrants or what

one thing, why would backstreet boys and 'n sync be swedish? they are both from the us, as far as I know

Completely true

Hi Moby,

I totally agree with you. People don't like to give up their comfort, no matter what the consequences are. I also think that people don't see any bad thing happen for now and they are used to eating meat and have no problem paying for it.

What i must admit is the fact that i'm still eating meat, but i'm trying to keep it on a minimum. Apparantly, how it's said in english: "i'm taking potluck", and in that way i think it is a waste not to eat the meat when it's already served. That way the animal died for nothing and i think that's even worse.

Maybe it is a took thing for most people just to limit their meat consumtion. That can be a good start after all..

Ow yeah, something more. I sat one an a half hour to order tickets for your concert in de Ancienne Belqique, and didn't have one. I could almost die when that happened! Hopefully i can see you soon (in an other concert)!

Greetings,

muddler/muddlehead/Pieter

Meat

That's true. People love their stomachs… and meat flavour. They love it too much and would justify meat-eating no matter what. Mind is so cunning when it comes to the meat-eating issue.

Thank *You* for this Angelic Journal My Love!! @>-->--

Good Morning My Heart,

I’m glad *you* arrived in Sweden safely.
I don’t know how many people are in Sweden, but I do know that ONE person out of the many people there are that moment is the most loved man in the Universe. I Love *You* With All My Heart Mo, sighs……xxxxooooo

In regards to your mentions:

Volvo-I had one, Saab-My parents had one

Ikea-We sell their products at Direct Buy through mail order

Abba-Tis one of my favorite 70’s dance music bands

Backstreet Boys-I never did like there music

N*Sync-Brought about Justin Timberlake (such a talent he is)

Ericsson-My Dad loves their products

Graphic Designers-My Dad has a Graphic Design Degree & worked as a Graphic Designer

Video Directors-My Dad was a Camera Man for Videos, commercials, weddings, etc. :)

*You* are playing a concert for the European Union & MTV, Wowers, that’s quite the combination isn’t it. Smiles. I wish I could be there. I would love to go to an old theater. I love historical buildings and I enjoy seated shows. I loved how your ambient solo show was a sit down show at the Issue Project Room.  xo

European’s are a great example. Why don’t we have climate change initiative events such as the one *you* are performing at in the USA? We need to get moving on this very important world changing and well needed initiative as well here in the USA.

I pray that more people will become vegan my love, not only for the climate change, but for the animals, as I know *you* do as well, because *you* are an angel my wonderful Vatican Commando. @> -- > --

Al Gore didn’t want his votes and reputation to be tarnished with the majority of the citizen’s of the USA. He probably felt like if he were to bring up Animal Production as a no no he would have a lot of fuss and make people spiteful and upset with him for making them feel guilty for eating the meats and dairy products that they eat. Al was probably thinking about how he wanted to be liked as a person, not how he could best help with Climate Change. It’s a pitty that he didn’t want to make a real impact in a positive way to help in climate change. That was a mistake on his part for not bringing it up and thank goodness *You* are doing something about it, by discussing it and bring it up as one of the major factors in Climate Change my darling. I remember reading *you* write about Al in regards to climate change in the past. *You* are very passionate about telling people the truth and wanting to protect angel. I’m very proud of *you* Darling!! Xo

This should be put on banners and posters and those huge Highway Posters everywhere: The inconvenient of inconvenient truths- A person cannot talk seriously about climate change and global warming without looking at the role of animal production (animal production being responsible for 24% of greenhouse gas emissions and also the #1 cause of deforestation in the rainforest).

It would be so nice if everyone would became Vegan my love, although *you* know as well as I do that, that probably won’t ever happen, but maybe if people realize the reality, they may produce less, buy less and consume less animal/meat/dairy products.

I’ll buy a hybrid vehicle when I’m able to my love. I do use some fluorescent lightbulbs. Denny’s, I haven’t been to Denny’s for a few years. My parents use to take my siblings and I there for dinner at times. We loved it, because it was better than fast food. I wish Denny’s did Vegan food. There idea of vegetarian food is a ‘Vegetable Omelet’. So not vegan!!

I agree my love, how can anyone consider themselves an environmentalist without looking objectively at all of the variables that are contributing to environmental degradation and climate change. *You* word things so well. I’m surprised *you* aren’t the worldwide spokes person for all such initiatives. *You* are a blessing Mr. Messenger.

I’ll say it over and over again, I Love *You* Moby Richard Melville Hall. *You* pull at my heart strings. *You* are a beautiful person inside and out.

Good luck for the initiative. My spirit and heart is with *you* Darling.

Hugs, Kisses, Snuggles & Cuddles,

Your Eternal Love Rachelle
