I share Your idea that You have to make the music that You love the best and not being tempted to make the music for crowds, just to get it to the radio...
I also think that the 'sad music' is the best side of Your music. Keep up the good work!
To combat the insanity and greed of the record companies, why not set up a non-profit organization for musicians and consumers. The organization would design, introduce, and maintain a killer website where music can be discovered, discussed, and downloaded for a fair price.
By cutting out the record industry, musicians would make more money, deserving artists would get recognition, and consumers could download music at prices lower than from the "standard" industry sites.
Benefit for all and decent music would once again be available for the masses!

a friend of mine was writing a film script about someone who was addicted to 'P'. I'd better not give away details of the plot here, but the story had come to her via a woman who was actually addicted to 'P' and I found out then, through my friend, about what kind of an impact the drug can have on people. It sounds like quite a freaky kind of a drug.
Later I was sad to hear about a woman who I used to be quite good friends with having gotten into using that drug, and then my brother told me that his best friend had started using it - a woman who is a passionate advocate of animal rights... and I was sad to hear about that as well. I gather it gives people quite something of a high when they're on it.
I've got an addiction that I ought to get around to giving up in the next few days or so but it isn't a substance addiction.
Good on you moby if you've succeeded in giving up an addiction or two.

This video is funny and God is looking at His creation through Mobys eyes and finds everything very amusing - wondrous and endearing. I love both the figures!
usually when i buy a cd, it takes time for me to make friends with all the songs & tracks(for instance i'm still waiting to be added with some of the songs on the new depeche 4 disc album sotu, even tho i got it on day of release on the 20/04/09). wait for me is one of those extremely rare works of audio which has been given immediate nesting rights right next to my vestax cdx-05. the songs feature moby's signature elegical chordal arrangements which lift me up higher each listen thru. as for during the interview above, i noticed each track featured therein seemed to have artscapes customed for each track featured. does this herald the whole of wait for me being made in this fashion? i hope so as i think it's an excellent medium for this music. nice one m8 :) peace...

i don't know what your experience has been, i don't know who you are but supposing that you have actually had a personal connection with moby, if you're feeling hurt, a good thing to try to remember is that making any attempts to hurt the person back never really helps to heal the hurt.

Since yesterday (Wednesday) I've been listening to 'Wait for me', (every time in order of the first track to the last one). I love this album! Precious one!
I'd like to say this; every time, by approaching to the end of the album, I end up by feeling as if I'm in a place surrounded by soft, tender atmosphere, and no mournful, sad parts left by that time. I really feel, along with this music, as if I'm just looking at ups and downs of quiet tide in the sea, peacefully, without any special emotion, knowing all emotions are floated away long before.
Well, Moby's intentions for making this album seemed to give this kind of effect to listeners, then, he really has got grains of genius, for sure! Thank you for offering such beautiful music this time, too.
I have no idea how these new songs will be played in live, but I'm expecting to see your performance next Sunday. See you.

Hi! Wait for Me is sooooo great! Tried to get it day one but something with ITunes got screwed up, but it is okay now! Not knowing about the little idiot from before, I showed the Pale Horses video to my 12 year old and we couldn't be more excited! We thought is was about HIM! His main hobby is trains and he has a little Chihuahua named Marco! We both love all the tracks, really cool and mello. Also we have been watching a graffiti animation by a french artist called blublu, he's awesome!!
It always amazes me how you discuss your music with such humility and honesty. In the end, it's all about the music.
It also makes me hopeful how you are able to produce such work in a 2 bedroom apartment because that is my same setup. Second bedroom is the studio/laundry room/guinea pig play area. It works out well though, music makes the guinea pig happy.

i just watched the video, that's awesome and i like the humor in it, like the fight between the dog and the cat, the dinosaur, etc. interviews are always "serious", here you did something really different, you have lots of imagination!!!
oh and i have to tell you something you have a 3yr old fan!!! Part of my job here is taking care off the 3kids of the family where i live and the little one, Abe, just turned 3. After your gig at the issue project room, i was watching some of my pictures with him and there was some picture of your gig, and he asked me "is your friend?" i said "it's moby, he makes music, you know his music" then i went on youtube and put some of your videos, he really likes the one with the little idiot character. then he told me "i wanna go see moby" and sometimes when he hears one of your song, he says "i go see moby today".
Then i was watching the video of "pale horses" several times and when he is in the same room, he starts to sing, he knows almost all the lyrics, and with his little voice it's so cute.
Then today, i was watching this video and he was coloring next to me, so he wanted to watch it too. And he started to talk alone like he does all the time: "i like moby...ohh yeah...i wanna go see moby, please can we go see moby?, etc and he recognized "pale horses", he said "i like this one" and he started to sing.
i had to tell you that, so, now you have one more fan ;)

Hi! Wait for Me is sooooo great! Tried to get it day one but something with ITunes got screwed up, but it is okay now! Not knowing about the little idiot from before, I showed the Pale Horses video to my 12 year old and we couldn't be more excited! We thought is was about HIM! His main hobby is trains and he has a little Chihuahua named Marco! We both love all the tracks, really cool and mello. Loved listening to it in the car this morning while the rain was pouring down here is Rhode Island...thank you so much, good thoughts are sent your way and please, can you come to Providence (or Boston??) This was screened on channel 4 the other night, it made me MOBYFIED! So cool, we loved it!Called my friends to see if they were watching.Can't get enough at the moment!
My daughter Eden has been watching it today, she asked if the little boy was lost? Then preceded to show me how do to 'twirling' whilst getting dizzy. Hilarious!
Also we have been watching a graffiti animation by a french artist called blublu, he's awesome!!

Studio arrangements and guinea pigs
It always amazes me how you discuss your music with such humility and honesty. In the end, it's all about the music.
It also makes me hopeful how you are able to produce such work in a 2 bedroom apartment because that is my same setup. Second bedroom is the studio/laundry room/guinea pig play area. It works out well though, music makes the guinea pig happy.

i just watched the video, that's awesome and i like the humor in it, like the fight between the dog and the cat, the dinosaur, etc. interviews are always "serious", here you did something really different, you have lots of imagination!!!
oh and i have to tell you something you have a 3yr old fan!!! Part of my job here is taking care off the 3kids of the family where i live and the little one, Abe, just turned 3. After your gig at the issue project room, i was watching some of my pictures with him and there was some picture of your gig, and he asked me "is your friend?" i said "it's moby, he makes music, you know his music" then i went on youtube and put some of your videos, he really likes the one with the little idiot character. then he told me "i wanna go see moby" and sometimes when he hears one of your song, he says "i go see moby today".
Then i was watching the video of "pale horses" several times and when he is in the same room, he starts to sing, he knows almost all the lyrics, and with his little voice it's so cute.
Then today, i was watching this video and he was coloring next to me, so he wanted to watch it too. And he started to talk alone like he does all the time: "i like moby...ohh yeah...i wanna go see moby, please can we go see moby?, etc and he recognized "pale horses", he said "i like this one" and he started to sing.
i had to tell you that, so, now you have one more fan ;)
