I believe that teany the cafe might, alas, be no more.

I believe that teany the cafe might, alas, be no more.

Yesterday there was a fire (no one was hurt, as far as I know), and teany was destroyed.
I need to ask kelly if she's going to re-build it, and as soon as she says 'yay' or 'nay' I'll let you know.

I'm really glad no one was hurt, and if anyone has pictures of teany post-fire I'd love to see them (as I'm in germany as I write this, and can't go round to see the damage).

Thanks

Moby

Fingers crossed!! x

Hey,

I'm visiting NYC for the first time in mid-November and a little birdie told me TeaNY may be re-opened by then!

I really hope so!!!! Heard about this place years ago and was looking forward to visiting! Sounds like it's a place not to be missed!!

x

Just Heard!

I've been out of the loop & in NYC 2 months finally planning to get to Teany between my busy schedule & before leaving to CA & I heard today! I really hope it all gets repaired. I just can't imagine NYC without Teany. Glad no one was injured & look forward to (I hope) a grand re-opening when I am officially a NY resident!
:) xxo

didn't expect this

What can I say? Such a shock for everyone and a truly frightening experiance for those who were there at the time. I hope everyone involved is ok especially in the coming days when memories can rudely intrude.
I remember sending you and Kelly a anniversary card on Teany's 1st birthday, I guess it's up to Kelly now as to if she wants to continue given all the memories Teany holds for her (and for you also),both good and bad, such a shame it ended like this though.
Truly am sorry to hear this, I have very fond memories of my time there.

Sh!t fella, that really,

Sh!t fella, that really, really sucks. The missus and I visited TeaNY just a few months ago and not only was the hot cider with port the perfect antidote for nyc's icy gusts, and the cheese plate just yummy to share but I was over the moon to see my local [Samuel Smiths] independantly brewed beers had made it to the big apple. Not only is the world missing the best cafe on earth and the staff their livelihood but I fear that also a few drops of this precious elixir may have been lost to the flames. Is there a god? In order to maintain equilibrium in the universe I shall endeavour to increase my intake of the brown frothy stuff in order to prevent any negative impact to the team at Samuel Smiths if Kelly promises to rebuild teany in double quick time. The future of my liver is in your hands, best of luck!

I am so sorry to hear this news

I am so sorry to hear this news.
My wife and I really enjoyed eating lunch there when we visited NYC. The carrot cake was incredible. I hope Teany can live again.

Oh dear, that is such sad news my love.....

Fires are so horrible. I'm very sorry to hear about this my love. Your precious Teany Cafe'. I so enjoyed my visit there. It was such a charming little cafe and the staff were all so pleasant. I'm glad that the workers weren't hurt and I do hope that Kelly will re-build it, being as it is cost-effective to do so in this economy/if the insurance will cover everything to rebuild it and especially so that the workers aren't out of jobs in this horrible jobless economy. Tis sad news and I imagine it feels so unsettling for *you*, since *you* cannot stop by to check things out. My love and blessings go out to all involved with the Teany Cafe'.

I Love *You* Richard. Keep smiling. Things will get better.

I Love *You* With All My Heart,

Your Loving Dancing Angel Rachelle

That is such bad news. I

That is such bad news. I truly hope Ms. Tisdale rebuilds it. That was by far my favorite place to eat whenever I would visit New York and I have some very fond memories of the cafe. My best friends and I would eat there every night, have some fantastic conversation to go with our fantastic food and drink.

It breaks my heart to hear that a staple of my NYC experiences has been lost.

Sorry for your loss of teany

Thank God no one is hurt!

Terrible...

That's terrible news, Moby. Kimme and I loved that place! :(

BUT, I am glad to know no one was hurt!

nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for many years we want to go to new york, and finaly, we leave france for new york next week, certainly the most important trip of our life!
1) moby is not here for all the summer... many people says "i've seen moby at teany" so we had no more hope to see you during our trip :(
2) we have planed to eat at teany at least 4 or 5 times, spending all our time to visit the teany's website looking at "what did we'll eat/drink?" and... no more teany :(
we can't bring a souvenir cup neither, nothing :(

i hope i hope one day teany will be back, and in our better dreams, we hope to see you there moby... only if we had the chance to come back in ny again one day :(

really sorry for you, kelly, all the lucky people who had the chance to go at teany one day in their life, and all the people like me, who has dreamed to go there one day :(
