yesterday an anti-semitic man with a rifle walked into the holocaust museum in washington d.c and began shooting. he killed an innocent security guard.

earlier this week a man was arrested who was planning on shooting president obama.

recently a doctor who was an abortion provider was shot to death by a right wing gunman in kansas.

and don't forget the right wing bombers who killed hundreds in oklahoma city when they blew up the federal building there.

and yet a few months ago republicans in congress were violently up in arms (pun intended) when it was revealed that the department of homeland security was investigating possible threats from right wing terrorists. the republicans called it 'unwarranted' and 'a witch hunt'. but yet look at the record. in the last 20 years how many democrats have taken up arms and shot people with whom they disagreed? i think the number stands at '0'. and in that same time how many republicans have taken up arms (or explosives) and killed people with whom they disagreed? the answer: many. sadly, tragically: very many.

the department of homeland security are clearly justified in investigating right wing hate groups. these groups routinely take up arms and shoot and kill innocent people with whom they disagree. they should be investigated and prosecuted. and i sincerely hope that the hate speech that has come from the mouths of right wing republicans and right wing tv and radio commentators will come to an end. right wing republicans in the united states have created an incredibly dangerous environment wherein innocent people are being killed by ignorant and violent right wing domestic terrorists.

Maya,

We love to hate you

I made previous postings which alluded to such behavior and reading your posts I wonder if you too struggle with your critiques. We can move along our day with yes I commented on this, yes I commented on that but I am not as beautiful as she or he or yes dammit erase that. Sometimes some ideas can shove you into a corner. Remain neutral a mommy or a daddy somewhere out there understands. You can post your arguments- this is a safe haven.

On, one more note genius -

On, one more note genius - this shooter was anti-semitic AND anti-Christian (he considered Christianity a hoax). He wasn't one of those scary "religious right" types that you imply he was here. He had no use for religious fundamentalism. Frankly, he sounds much more like one of the "spiritual, not religious" types you have appletinis with in Soho than he does one of us. Next time do some homework instead of copying and pasting the dumbest person on Huffington, MMMMMkay?

By the way, loser, just because someone is in the KKK doesn't mean they vote Republican. That seems to be the ONLY connection to conservatism anyone can make, and it's an insulting myth to relate the two. Ask KKK Grand Wizard Robert Byrd.

Study War

I agree with New Monkey, this is an outrage yet it isn't even worth arguing about.
I am waiting for the entire Study War Video to contemplate too. There is this show on NIck called Avatar, it's a cartoon and it uses this zen approach to war. Why I'm saying this? Because I like to listen.

Andrew 360 special last night on CNN

it was very scary to see that map he showed with red dots bustin' out..
marking the zones in the country where this guys live...
im sure there a many crazy people like them out there, but i dont believe every one of them is gonna go out and kill. This guy just went bananas. By the way I listen to the BBC all day and i couldnt believe they didn't mention it! at all!! the front news was the possibly flu pandemic... oh my god.

I Abhor Abortion But I Also Abhor Guns and Homicide

I abhor abortion, slaughterhouses, hunting, trapping and the killing of any innocent beings. I also abhor all firearms and violent right wing and left wing murderers. The left is far from perfect and the right are utterly imperfect.

Agreed. These people are

Agreed. These people are terrorists. Targeting abortion doctors and warning of more violence? That is domestic terrorism. I can't understand anyone in these comments feeling otherwise. And Republicans do nothing to stop it and their silence is deafening.

Two elderly gay men [one in a wheelchair] were slaughtered in their home here in Indianapolis late last year, and it was NOWHERE even though 'Fag' had been spraypainted on their door the week before, and their phone line had been cut mutiple times, and they had been constantly harassed by a neighbor. It was nowhere in the headlines. And they refuse to list it as a hate crime. Some channels here didn't even have the story on their website after it happened, and when I emailed them to ask why.. they said they hadn't heard anything about it. A double homicide and three local news channels know nothing about it?

And no one is saying all Republicans are terrorists, but they also don't do shit to speak out against it, they fight against labeling obvious hate crimes AS hate crimes. They are guilty as they are always fighting on the wrong side, and that is criminal to me. Bill O barely touched on the Museum shooting. I wonder why?

Shepard Smith, on Fox news of all places, did a report about how much hate mail he gets about Obama, and how angry and violent people feel about him being in office. I didn't like President Bush, but I would never, EVER condone violence against him. I can't understand it. These are the people Republicans call their own? These are the people right wing talk show hosts pander to, and with their pandering; they're helping spread the hate. I agree with you. These shows need to end. I don't see these talk shows as just pathetic and silly. They honestly scare me because I know the kind of people that listen to them and honestly believe everything they hear. Honestly, come to a small town in the midwest and ask about Obama. It is pretty frightening how willingly people are to believe everything bad they hear about him and hate him for no reason.

Labels matter

Moby, I normally agree with your political posts 100%, even if you can sometimes express the views more extremely than I might. But in this post you say, "...in that same time how many republicans have taken up arms (or explosives) and killed people with whom they disagreed? the answer: many. sadly, tragically: very many."

"Right wing extremist" and "Republican" are not synonyms. These were not acts perpetrated by "Republicans" any more than the World Trade Center was destroyed by "Muslims". Blaming the Republicans for these acts is not a way to create constructive discussion and debate about the issues.

And, by the way, "That Guy", if you are upset about the DHS report about right wing extremists, then please at least aim your anger at the right target. The reports were not initiated under Obama. They were initiated under Bush. And the report was paralleled by one about possible threats from left wing extremists. So if you're mad at a president about this, then you're mad at Bush, not Obama.

hate is fueled by control. U2

hate is fueled by control.
U2 is right, there are many people
with many different point of views
in the U.S.

they wish that things were. and
have the desire to carry out their ideals.

Diversity is good, but only
when we can respect one other's opinions
and lifestyles.

And also try to work with each other;
I offer this example":
If my next door neighbor
likes to let his dog poop on my property,
maybe because the animal likes the smell of
my grass, then why not reach some
agreement. If the animal is drawn to my
lawn, maybe he can poop there, and
just let your neighbor can do his part of
picking up after the animal.
In my opinion, we have to get at that level.
Sadly I've seen many people just shoo
away man's best friend because they
don't want to deal. But we have to learn
to deal. Little
acts of kindness go a long way.

IT's like the
flutter of a butterfly's wing,
which causes a small yet significant
chain reaction in our atmosphere..

Terrible

I think the USA will be from bad to worse place. Becouse there are a lot of people live in this big country, and there are a lot of people hold extreme views. But not just in the USA. Unfortunately this is a big problem in Europe, or Africa and etc.
In my home, Hungary it is a big problem too. (Hungary is in middle Europe. It is a little country. The capital city is Budapest.) For example neo-nazi idea is a very important in Hungary.

Oh, and a final irony: Even

Oh, and a final irony:

Even if I'm going to play your game and blame an entire group for the actions of a few out of tens of millions (gosh, what's that called again?), well...

If your definition of these groups "routinely" taking up arms is two tragic shootings and a bombing over a 15 year span, and you think everyone who belongs to Heritage should be on a watch list or something, I can only imagine what you think should happen to the Muslims. And certain wings of the Neo-Black Power movement in this country. You're talking about MUCH more "routine" violence right there. Is it safe to assume you supported the Patriot Act? If anything, you must have thought it didn't go far enough!

You're a Bigot. Period. Worse than any cartoon character you could ever imagine George Bush of being. Congrats.

To That Guy:

Dude, if you're going to so passionately oppose what Moby's suggesting, try not to sound so much like a hateful right wing terrorist. You both seem pretty certain about your claims, but the difference is that he's at least able to express his frustration without flat out calling the other person names, or dissing them to prove he knows what's what. i.e. Try not to sound like you're yelling while you typed that.

Oh, and by the way...if you

Oh, and by the way...if you want a real clinic on anti-semitism, POTUS's burgeoning foreign policy, vis a vis Israel, looks like a MUCH more effective weapon against MY Jewish people than some psycho with a rifle.

You are a remarkably

You are a remarkably ignorant, repugnant person and I hope you are a bit ashamed for writing this. But I doubt it.

The issue was not that Obama wanted to target right wing hate groups, as you put it, but that he wanted to specifically target military veterans, who actually have a lower incidence of violent crime upon discharge than average citizens do. It was ignorant and insulting to the men and women who serve this country, and he got slapped upside the head for it in the polls - and rightly so.

And while we're at it, since you apparently need a history lesson, I suppose you've never heard of the Weathermen, The Jesse James Gang (featuring Obama confidant William Ayers), The Black Panthers, or The Black Liberation Army. All have been responsible for violence and death over the last forty or so years in the name of progressive causes. I suppose you believe everyone who shares or espouses their general political views should be muzzled?

Tim McVey was a sick SOB who had bigger issues than his politics, and got what was coming to him. Nobody who geniunely supports the life movement hopes the bastard who shot that doctor escapes hell. And the details are still sketchy, but I'm guessing the museum shooter wasn't playing with all his cards. I don't think, if not for Rush Limbaugh, he'd be volunteering with the bookmobile right now, do you?

These gross generalizations you make are nothing more than an excuse for you to voice your desire to silence those with whom you disagree. Grow up.

I was going to argue with you

I was going to argue with you about all of your points, but then I got to reading your comments thoroughly, and it just proved to me you're yet another right wing asshole that wandered into Moby's blog to try to "teach him a lesson." Do you get all your information from Fox news? William Ayers Obama's confident? Is this election time again? People still believe this bullshit?

I feel so sorry for people like you, honestly. It isn't even worth arguing.
