maybe it's shameful to admit this, but as of late it's been kind of fun to sit back and watch the republican party implode. or tear itself apart. or eat itself alive. choose your metaphor.
recently, for example, dick cheney and karl rove declared themselves 'rush limbaugh republicans', specifically saying they're not 'colin powell republicans'. huh. so rush limbaugh is the god-king of the republican party, while colin powell is considered a republican pariah. that, uh, doesn't seem so wise for the republicans.
let's compare and contrast:
colin powell: decorated military hero, four star general, former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, former secretary of state, former national security advisor. current republican pariah.
rush limbaugh: college drop-out, morbidly obese radio host, divorced 3 times, drug addict. current king of the republicans.
yes, rush limbaugh would often talk about how drug addicts should be sent to prison. but it turns out that for many years he would send his housekeeper out to buy illegal drugs for him, as he was addicted to opiates.
so, to be clear, dick cheney and karl rove and the republicans are choosing a college drop-out, drug addict, radio host to be the titular head of their party? genius.
it might be the best picture ever taken. ever. i mean: pregnant, shaved male chest, ass grab, etc. some things, like this, are flawless. future generations will look back at us and ask, collectively, 'what the hell?'

All I'll say about Rush is that there are extremists on both sides, and this tends to bring in followers who are extreme in their beliefs fir whatever reason, too.

I choose not to listen to Rush Limbaugh. He is nothing more than a media personality who is compensated heavily to express his subjective opinions through mass media outlets. He is not an appointee, nor an elected offical and is not responsible to a constituency. I wish my career was as easy as his, however being a professional requires a certain level of accountability and liability that he has not exhibited through his character.

Barack Obama is a major improvement over George W. Bush. However, he should have given Dennis Kucinich an environmental or agricultural appointment. Kucinich is a vegan who knows that the beef, pork and poultry indusries cause massive environmental toxicity, global warming, air, water and land polltion and deforestation. He's also an animal welfare advocate who cares deeply about the humane treatment of farm animals. Obama has never mentioned the planetary benefits of vegetarianism. He's good but he's not idyllic !

There is a common misconception or erroneous idea among conservatives, that people are generally stupid, and that a leader shouldn't have listen to the people.
I agree that, a leader should stick to what he knows(his plans, the facts, advice), but, then, of course, treating people like they are stupid is an entirely different story. Thus, continuing to make them think, act and look stupid, weakening their hopes, provoking and festering anger and promoting malformation of conduct.
The republican party needs to reach a common ground with the democrats, but not before they begin to show some respect and consideration for the opinions of others.

I have never actually watched or listened to an entire
Rush Limbaugh speech so I cannot really judge to say much on this notation, but I do hear that he is not as good as he use to be many years ago when I was young and my Dad was really following his politics and since I'm Liberal Democrat I don't care to read up on him, but I do enjoy reading your thoughts about him my love.
