Never Back Down is the story of a new kid (Sean Faris) moving to Florida. After being beaten up in a fight at a party, he decides to learn MMA to better protect himself. Through his training with his MMA coach (played by Djimon Hounsou) he learns that what he's fighting against is bigger than the bully he has to contend with.

When this movie first dropped, many in the jiu jitsu and MMA community wrote it off as a MMA version of Fast and Furious. It does have elements of that in it. But beyond that, it told the compelling story of what brings a man to fight and the responsibilities that come with the power of being a fighter. I found it to be an exciting film.

Well, the Lower East Side has a bit of sleaze compared to other NYC neighborhoods, and is also very much an industrial area, and not very pretty to look at, like, say, SoHo. Teany is located in a relatively sleaze-free zone, but not by much. But I still love it- I tried one of your exotic mixed drinks while I was there and it was fabulous.

That's all very interesting to me what you are telling. I really like to see NY and of course other parts of America (and the world) sometime. It's fantastic that everybody has his/her own lifestyle and differences. I think when I get over the ocean someday. (The plan is next year :p) I think I will see lots of things that I'm not used to. Oh, well I now live in Florida, home of Disney World, but it is so far from Fort Myers and I have only ever went that way once and didn't actually go to Disney World, just Disney Town near it. I plan on bringing little Brayden there on a less hot weekend this year. Smiles. He will love it, as I have always loved it.

We visit the Walt Disney store at the mall everytime we go. We lvoe that too, smiles.

When Grace and I came back to NYC last Autumn I spent the first three days wondering where the hell NYC went and hated it. It was like it lost it's edge (and some dirt and some panhandlers and...) and became a Stepford City.

And then on the fourth day...the new version grew on me. You've been right there so I suppose it's a more gradual, less noticable shift. I waited 15 years too long to revisit. Ooops.

By the way, all of the drag queens are over here in downtown Minneapolis now. The Gay 90's is just a few blocks from me downtown and has the best drag shows ever. I am less of a woman next to them....

We were watching old Kojak episodes recently (love that Netflix on demand) & I was explaining to my teens how nyc used to be. The Lieutenant moves with ease through a sleazy world, "who loves ya baby?"
