The funny thing about Bristol is a few months ago she actually went on tv saying that abstinence actually wasn't realistic. I don't think that teaching abstinence helps much no. I think it is good in addition with teaching birth control and sexual activity safety. The combination is much more effective, because humans will be human and I don't see that abstienence is a natural tendency, especially with teenagers who are full of highly & bursting active hormones, but at least if it is discussed, it is an option and to each their own, but the most important thing is making sure that the young chicklings that need advice and protection are knowledgable in how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancy, although, still the same, people are known to get pregnant even when taking precautions and on birth control, but usually 95% don't get pregnant and there are ways to prevent pregnancy that doesn't require taking medication, but if the teens don't know how to do such, then their are more chances for pregnancy, thus it is a smart idea for them to be taught such.
