here are some upcoming shows/etc that i'm doing, if you feel like coming out.

march 28th i'll be dj'ing with carl cox at ultra in miami.

april 4th i'll be playing at radio city music hall with eddie vedder and paul mccartney and ben harper, among others. it's a fundraiser
for david lynch's t.m program, and will be hosted by david lynch and laura dern, i think. i also think that paul mccartney and ringo starr are playing together, sort of like
an almost beatle's reunion.

april 10th the little death, nyc will be playing at mercury lounge.

and april 24th i'll be doing my first ever solo electronic/ambient show at the issue project room in brooklyn. it will be a fundraiser
for the issue project room. in all these years i've never done a solo electronic show.

ok, hope to see you at some of these events.
thanks,
moby

New New How Come?

I have just read Tuna's entry - and I too have to ask How Come? A fundraiser for a transendental meditation program? I can think of at least 5 major programs in need of the support that will be generated by a Radio City appearance of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Moby, Eddie Vedder, etc. (Earth rights, Animal Rights, Human Rights, the right of every human being to have access to abundant food and clean water. So a fundraiser for T.M. seems trivial in comparison to the crisis looming on the horizon for the next generation. This is something we can not OM our way out of. We need to begin today to ACT!!

might be worth a try ....

i think teaching meditation is an interesting concept that has the potential to make a positive impact on our society

what if teaching people how to meditate teaches them how to decrease overall stress on their physical and mental systems and become more aware, conscious and responsible as human beings

maybe stress on our systems causes disease, depression, anxiety and maybe how we interact with our environment/planet/animals/people is less than optimal because of the stress we feel

i think it is possible that how we act under stress contributes to some pretty significant global issues (excessive materialism for example which has great environmental repercussions, addictions as another example with far reaching negative global repercussions)

if stress on systems is contributing to many societal issues maybe meditation is an attempt towards solution rather than a band-aid for a symptom

i work for a not for profit, that raises money to support people with disease and prevent disease, many patients are actually having success in their health care journeys by introducing mediation as a complimentary therapy, one of our sister organizations actually has their staff meditate together each morning before they start their work day - the staff report better communication, decreased stress, increased job satisfaction

david lynch sounds like a pretty interesting, open minded and intelligent guy - maybe he is on to something - i am starting to think it might be worth a try

how come?

what is the point of david lynch foundation's campaign? is it for real? how meditation can help children getting rid of poverty, crime, bad education etc? once open a time, those fundraiser sort of events were scheduled to help some disease or to assist people suffering from civil wars or some other specified reason that can actually be better. it was for to "overcome", not to "live with it" .but teaching t.m.? sounds like a joke...

I know that the weather sucks and the people over here can be a bit rigid, but would you consider playing over here? If not could you play in Ibiza during the summer?

Love your pics of NYC by-the-way, you've got a great eye!

Abi ;)

mobygratis question

hello! have a mobygratis question. i was granted festival rights to several mobygratis tracks to use in my film. now i'd like to use them commercially. who can i contact? i've sent emails to gratis@moby.com and info@moby.com but no response. thanks!

fight for your mind...

um, so, this isn’t really about the gigs. there was this post in the previous weblog entry that said you were recently at the emi offices and I was suddenly very confused, because emi is, like, evil? (emi: “evil masters of insipidness”) and I knew that righteous moby wouldn’t have anything to do that lot. I figured it was a bogus post. then I did some research and found out about the purchase of “mute” (23 million? wow. guess it’s pretty tough not to sellout with temptation like that…). ugly.

all that was just a tangent.

what I really want to write about, is…oh no. I spent so much time on the tangent, I forgot the point.

np: sweetest.
