hi, did you watch obama's speech to congress last night?

even as an obama fan it was pretty great. and i loved how at the beginning of the speech the republicans refused to clap or stand up, but as it progressed they started clapping and standing up, probably out of fear of being seen as the party of consistently grumpy ole men.

oh, and speaking of republicans, this is interesting: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/29/where-did-all-the-republicans-go/ a map of the u.s showing the dwindling fortunes of the republican party. but what's particularly interesting are the comments (from republicans) that follow. most sane republicans seem to be saying,

'please, let's figure out how to talk to normal americans, and not just xenophobic high school drop-outs who idolize rush limbaugh.'

unfortunately the republican echo chamber (rush limbaugh, bill o'reilly, the gop in congress, etc) are so far to the right that they're essentially alienating mainstream america.

in other news, i'm headed to l.a to go to david lynch's wedding and then to play with the little death friday at dragonfly. if you're around l.a friday i hope you come to our little rock show.

thanks

March 21,2009 - March on Washington D.C.

Hi, yes I did watch President Obama's speech - I supported his campaign and feel as if our country has finally awakened from an 8year nightmare - But the republicans are not just grumpy ole men - they are really scary!! I watched Russ Limbaugh on C-SPAN be the true "Big Fat Idiot" he really is - going on as to how he'll be working to make President Obama fail. I hope this kind of talk will finally have everyone see the far rights true colors. The upcoming March 21 - March on Washington, D.C. is to End War, Promote Healthcare for Everyone, Have the Wealthy pay their Fair Share, and Show support for Social Programs. Peoplecare, not Warfare.

Peace & Love,
Jowriter

Hey Moby Sorry for this

Hey Moby

Sorry for this off-topic comment, but I just wanted to say that I've been listening to your old rave stuff and it's just as great as when I first heard it.

I remember watching your videos on MTV Europe's Party Zone (remember when you invited us all to your apartment in Manhattan?!) and thinking they were great.

Just re-listened to "Next is the E" there. Classic song.

I've just started making electronic music and I plan on making lots of rave stuff which will all be heavily influenced by your music.

Enjoy the wedding, etc.

Steve

PS I saw you when you supported U2 at slane castle. I remember when you said you were going to play your old rave stuff, and if you don't like it, tough! that was funny.
PPS Come play in Ireland again soon!

How you know you're in a bubble..

You know you are living in a tiny bubble when you get your news from Moby... It's just a bad case of momitis. It will let up over the next couple of years.

Holy sh.. cow.. David Lynch is getting married? I talked to him on the phone once along time ago. He was a very cheerful and inquisitive soul..

Respectfully disagree...

I don't intend to go anywhere just to rock the boat, just want to say that upfront. I usually come and check Moby's journal to take the temperature of some actual people who are liberal as opposed to what I read or hear that they think from elsewhere. I am a conservative person, although I can't identify much with 'republican' now, and I cannot even say it's because of what has happened in the last decade or anything to do with Bush. He has been portrayed, right or wrong, as the biggest idiot to walk this earth, just as Obama has been portrayed as the greatest rock-star walk upright. But the last month and the next four years, I fear, may bring a sad realization to everyone that we are going to be headed in a bad direction, no matter what side is in office...
This whole do-no-wrong campaign was built on CHANGE and NO MORE OLD POLITICS OR EARMARKS...and one month in we have $5,000,000,000 in earmarks, with purposes ranging from tattoo removal in California to programs to combat bullying in Montana...federal dollars...that didn't take long. But why wouldn't they sneak that crap by? Seems republicans would do the same thing these days. The problem is no one is going to raise much of a fuss now, because of all that this administration has been made to represent- everything that is good in this planet.
Real conservatives are on the sidelines cringing, because the government is now front and center in our economy, exactly the opposite of everything we stand for, and money is going to be thrown out like candy for the next four (eight) years, just as it was before, albeit for "noble" purposes...
I hope we can all still keep our guard up, no matter if it's "our guy" in the office, or the guy we were forced to root for because he was "at least better than the other guy"...I hope still test the powers that be, and not give them a pass to do anything they want, even when the majority of the country are fervently opposed, i.e., the auto bailout.

Thank you for inspiring a man of very little artistic talent for over a decade Moby, I hope we have a great deal left to hear from you!

wow, have I got something to tell you!!!!

Hey Moby,

Yeah I did watch some of that speech which got broadcasted around the world. I'm very fond of Obama indeed, and I love how committed he is to really truley doing his utmost to make the best job of being the president of the u.s.a as he can, and I love how humanitarian and compassionate he seems to be, but I see a few faults with him as well. Well that means he's human of course (I suspected so) and much like the rest of us. I've never yet encountered a perfected human being. Maybe I'll tell you some other time what exactly I've noticed about his approach to certain things that seems not quite completely right to me. I still love him and am very very pleased that he got voted in.

For now I have some incredibely good news. Bare with me as I explain this. There is something of a paranormal nature involved. Hopefully you'll like hearing about this being the little word nerd that you are as well. Do you own a dictionary? If you want to try this yourself you'll need either a dictionary or a theasaurus. I did it with a dictionary.

I held a pertinent question in my mind while I was holding it and I closed my eyes and let a finger run lightly over it's side where all the edges of the pages are. I got an extra nice sensation in my finger tip at a particular place so I opened the dictionary there. I then ran my fingers lightly over both columns (still with my eyes closed) and got an extra bit of sensation at a particular place in there too. I then opened my eyes to see which word my fingers had landed on. The meaning of that word just happened to be very significant and held plenty of meaning in relation to my question, so I tried it again.... and again.... and again. I kept on getting words that had a very similar meaning, oh and they were such gooooooooood words. wow. I mean wow, wow, wow, wow. I went on. I asked more questions like, OK in order for me to get from here to there, shall I take this route or that, (asking first about one option and then the other), and I got very very clear answers. I got a very clear message about timing and something else that I have to do first. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that something of a paranormal nature was occuring. It was incredible. At one point, I presented a concern, being that I found it hard to believe that I would be able to do what it seemed to be telling me I need to do within quite a short time frame, and then my fingers (me with my eyes closed) landed (I opened my eyes to see) on the word 'hopeful' so of course it was very good for me right then to read the definition.. what it means to be hopeful. When I'd sought to find out just how likely... my fingers managed to find words like 'forthcoming' and 'predestined' while I had my eyes closed, then forthcoming appeared again as one of the meanings for another word my fingers found.

I swear that I was having a conversation with God or someone very closely related to her.

And the overall message was so incredibly encouraging and... that that it's soon. Very soon.

Are you game to give it a try? See what you words you get?

Watched it this morning.

Didn't see it last night, but was able to watch a video of it (the whole of it!) posted at MSNBC this morning. It's nice to have a President that writes, thinks, and speaks intelligently--and I think, in very practical and direct terms. It's difficult for me to believe in anything really changing for the better (after all the things that have happened over the years) but listening to President Obama's ideas somehow makes me a little hopeful. "Nobody messes with Joe!" ^_^ Also liked that he was using the competitive tendency to get congress motivated toward green policies; as uncomfortable as I am with the whole competition thing, it is what ultimately got support for the moon landing, and the research that went into that has helped in so many other ways--medical technology, for example...oh no. I'm rambling. thanks for the post.

That is so special, May David and his Bride to Be

Have a love that lasts eternally, @>-->--

Florida Leans Democrat eh.....

Well does that put me the Liberal Democrat in a leaning position....Hmmmmm I never have thought of myself as a leaner, interesting term. I do believe that though, as during election time, when I would go shopping and such and I was wearing my I voted Obama sticker, I had many comments and remarks from Republicans, but I'm happy to say that there were a lot more Democrats that gave me a thumbs up for my choice to vote for President Obama, smiles.

Tis a very interesting article and comments underneath it too. Thanks for sharing my love.

You have a blast there in Cali darling love. I hope you take lots of lovely photos.

I Love, Love, Love *You*,
