ok, one more about politics. day one of the obama presidency.

well, the first full day of the obama presidency. i really like this picture of obama arriving at work:

Obama in the White House

the sun's shining through the windows. the walls are freshly painted. and the nations first african-american president is arriving for his first full day of work.

i know, i'm stating the obvious. but is there anything wrong with stating the obvious when doing so reminds me/us of something really good? kind of like saying, 'boy, those pancakes were good' after eating good pancakes. i mean, everyone within earshot has just eaten the same pancakes. everyone knows that they just ate good pancakes. but saying 'those pancakes were good' just kind of reminds everyone that they've experienced something nice.

so when i write, 'and the nations first african-american president is arriving for his first full day of work' i might be stating the obvious, but solely in the interest of basking in the glow of such a fantastic fact. ok, i'll keep it brief and leave you with this last photo:

the glowing Oval Office

So cool you put up this photo.

This photo mesmerized me. It is like equal parts the reality of a new sheriff in town, the feeling that maya angelou was there after all--as if she'd written and read the inauguration poem for Clinton, "on the pulse of morning," a few years early--but most of all it's the quantum vibrational leap forward, and it's all there in the shimmering silhouette of our good, graceful, evolved, mixed-race African American President O, the people's taking-the-high-road, dancing, sometimes smoking, wife-and kids-loving prez, reporting for duty. I am so in awe to be here at this turning point for our planet.

Check out Dean Radin's and the Princeton eggs graph for the Obama election & inauguration. Pretty amazing:

Fresh fruit for everybody!

President Obama

This beautiful moment, this man, America - chills running up and down my spine.

I would stand in line for this...

All look so fresh!

After such a happy Inauguration Day, seeing all footages related to that day and the new President of the US continue to make us feel happy, especially for American people.

(These might be repeatedly commented but...) what I feel the most in Obama's speeches/writings and acts is his remarkable sincerity. It must be deeply rooted in him. And when I think of why Obama has become the President of the USA, I only see his solid will, his will to work for constructing better society, his will to bring people better conditions of life. I don't see any personal ambition, neither stiffed sense of duty. It's all come out from his will, I think.

And the Inauguration Day has largely showed what Obama has inspired American people; 3 million people have gathered in DC with good heart, showing they are willingly ready to help and participate in this new President's job. --- citizens are going to help the government? the President? --- this gonna be historical ! --and, I feel this time, that American people's determination to work altogether for the nation with good will and right sense (without being influenced by some distorted media people) might give a good example to other countries in the future.

Nothing wrong with

Nothing wrong with stating the obvious! :)

OK one more comment to share

To confess, this is not my writing but rather the writing of a very close friend of mine who came in from NYC to photograph DC during the inauguration activities. During November, he gave up his income for a month to sleep on floors in Philly and work 20 hours a day to make sure Obama carried Pennsylvania. Many people made similar sacrifices and one of the reasons they did is reflected in his thoughts below:

"An economic policy is not the expectation that you will win the lottery. I think he understands. A disaster plan is not two ex-presidents shaking a cup. I think he gets it. America's optimism is not a couple of cheerleaders and a bunch of negative ads. I think we got it. We all thank all the people across the country who worked, and donated and housed and sacrificed for days and weeks and months and years to prove that our belief is greater than money and that belief is not just in a church, but around us and within us every day of our lives.

We will get there. Step by step and day by day, but we will get there and achieve together what we never could as individuals. We have built a culture that no nation on earth can claim - to choose to work, choose to give up, choose to build, choose our course and choose a man who understands that we have made that choice."

let me guess...

...he asked you to be there to photograph the occassion with your phone camera right? you're secretly an insider aren't you? I heard a rumour (or read it to be precise) (on here actually), that the book written by your very own grandfather (was it called 'Moby Dick'?) is Obama's favourite book, so of course he's sought out your company already and requested that you do some special photography work for him using your dinky little scene capturing device right?

who else could have guessed.

I've got you so very well sussed haven't I?

well I was joking... but then come to think of it.....

those photographs really do look like the kind that you would take on your little camera. low resolution and all. that extra cute one of the back of obama's head fuzzy and slightly out of focus standing in front of (whatever the word for that thing would be).... that's ever so much your style of photography.

yes come to think of it, the bit about you having accidentally booked an early trip home to NY as if you'd forgotten that you might actually want to be there for obama's inauguration. likely story that one!!!

then came the mysterious shot of the huge crowds at the inauguration that looked very suspiciously like a photo of yours. i recall that i even thought something like... "what's he doing there when he said he wasn't there?".

aha!! I get it. you're a friend of obama's and you were invited to eat pancakes for breakfast with them in the whitehouse right? but really, what could you say to the rest of us? it's your best kept secret and out of utmost loyalty to this very dear friend of yours, not wanting to compromise his privacy needs, you had to make up a little wee white lie that was almost (but not quite) completely believable, that you had accidentally forgotten that you might like to attend his inauguration.

i hope you don't mind me publicly stating that this suspicion I have about your true where-abouts that morning.

Gee. moby and the obama family eating pancakes with maple syrup on them in the white-house on his first day as president. (did they have maple syrup on them?)

well it's a delightful little thought anyway. one which fills me with rather a nice feeling of euphoria.

I like Obama's signature, have you seen it? It's hip.

This is just the beginning and the best has yet to come!

Pure excitement.almost adrenaline.

is it gonna be better?

HI FROM RUSSIA. DO YOU REALLY THINK YOUR LIFE'S GONNA CHANGE FOR THE BETTER? WE IN RUSSIA ARE TIRED OF ENDLESS PROMISES AND EXPECTATIONS. NOBODY BELIEVES THE PRESIDENT AND HIS MINISTERS. HOW CAN RUSSIAN PEOPLE (FOR EXAMPLE, POOR TEACHERS) LIVE (OR SURVIVE) WNEN THEIR SALARY IS LESS THAN $200? AT THE SAME TIME THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR OUR DISGUSTING LIVING CONDITIONS ABOUT $150.
MOBY, THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC. I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO YOUR 'LAST NIGHT REMIXED'. IF IT'S INTERESTING TO YOU, YOUR LICENSED CD COSTS ABOUT $8-10 IN RUSSIA.

It is already better

Où est votre idéalisme, votre 'dusha', mon chat gris?

le chat gris a faim

ma 'dusha' a faim aussi, ma chere (ou mon cher) vineca.

Hey, things are already

Hey, things are already better here than under Bush's reign. Obama, I believe, is really going to try to do his best to change the country for the better. I wouldn't have voted for him if I didn't. It isn't going to be perfect. All the problems are never going to go away, but he's going to do his part. He's already started if you keep up with US news. Just a couple of days in office, and he's already made some major changes and is keeping his promises.

glad to hear that

i'm glad that you (unlike russian people) have some hope for future changes. i'd like to know if people of all races in usa have in reality equal rights. won't whites be so-to-speak "discriminated" now? don't you think that now - in the time of the world's crisis - obama has already wasted a lot of money: expensive cars, pompous ceremonies etc? this exterior luxury may hide some inner emptiness... Or not?

Wow

Not to state the obvious, but wow. I wish my office was that nice. Of course, my job is slightly easier than saving the world. And the hours are better. Still, wow.

I heard a tidbit on CNN that the White House staff had exactly 4 hours during the swearing in ceremonies to clean out that office of all the Bush clutter and completely redecorate it to Obama’s taste. Start clean. Unfortunately, that doesn’t really happen and Obama has inherited a complete mess to clean up. But it’s a nice gesture to provide him with a clean office.

And it’s nice to see that although so many people are anxious and worried about what direction we’re going next, we still cling to our hopes. Now for patience…

not to be technical on you man... but...

Barack Obama is NOT African-American. He was not born in Africa. He is American. He is black!!! Technically malato (to say he is black is forgetting his mother!)

Just because my father was born in Holland does not mean I am Dutch-American. I am American. And I am white!

Please consider future references as Barack Obama as African-American as an insult to the Presidential office If he was truly African-American from Africa, he COULD not legally be president.

What a beautiful sunfilled morning, a delightfully perfect.....

day to start one's US Presidential Career on. smiles. This really is an absolutely lovely journal Sweetheart.
