hi, and happy new year. well, happy western-y new year.
i guess for the vast majority of people on the planet it's not new year. like, well, the chinese and indians (that's 2,000,000,000 people right there). and the muslims and the jews. and a lot of others, as well. but for the billion or so people for whom wednesday night was new years eve, and for whom thursday is new years day: happy new year.
i dj'ed at a big rave in downtown l.a, and it was really, really fun. if you were there: thanks for coming. here's a picture taken with my blackberry of my 15,000 new friends at 5 minutes past midnight .
it looks vaguely as if we're in the belly of a giant whale, or perhaps a big inflatable space ship. my next dj'ing gig(s) will be in d.c for inauguration week. i don't know details yet, but i'll let you know as soon as i know. and now i'm going to go to bed, lulled to sleep by the dulcet tones of coke-fuelled drunks yelling at each other on the streets of hollywood. goodnight, and happy 2009.
the economy might be in the toilet, but we have a new president-elect and there are about a trillion things for which we can each hopefully be thankful and grateful. i hope you had a great new years eve and i hope that 2009 ends up being a fantastic year for you.

oh, and by the way.. Jewish new year is, for many people, just a symbolic celebration. Well, of course is a kind of new year, but we still celebrate the new year at december 31st.

i'm having a great year so far. I recently got granted $10,000 for something which has me feeling very good. In fact it has me feeling so good that... (there..is something wrong with my keyboard right now which is makin g it very tricky.. f or me to type)... anyway what... i am trying to say i s that the happiness that I feel over this $10,000 grant in combination with the purpose of the grant has me feeling so incredibly inspired and motivated (my keyboard seems to have fixed itself) (I think there was just a crumb or something stuck under the space bar)oh no it's doing it again. I guess I'll have to give me laptop a good s h ak e when I have finished here. that fixed problem last time. did... you know that if you get a crumb or something little like a crumb stuck under one of the keys on your computer keyboard, that it can make that key keep on going automatically whether you are hitting it or not... or otherwise it can jam the thing and make it not work.
back to what I was saying...
....the happiness that I feel over this $10,000 grant in combination with the purpose of the grant has me feeling so incredibly inspired and motivated that i have the most amazing set of new years resolutions.. and I feel really optomistic that I will follow through o n t hem too.
