has anyone else noticed that obama and his family actually seem to really like and love each other? it's really heart-warming. i'm happy that obama is president-elect, but i'm also thrilled that this is our first family:
they are probably the most charming and endearing first family that the united states has ever had. and i love that last week obama took time off from his meetings to go to his daughters school for parent-teacher conferences. and i was reading in his memoirs that when he was a freshman at college in l.a in 1979 he hung out with:
"the foreign students. the chicanos. the marxist professors and the structural feminists and the punk rock performance poets. we smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. at night, in the dorms, we discussed neocolonialism, franz fanon, eurocentrism, and patriarchy. we set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake." (from 'the audacity of hope').
we have a smart and moderate president elect who's african-american and has a beautiful family and who hung out with punk rockers when he was in college? it's like waking up and finding out that every crappy top-40 station in america is now playing tv on the radio and the bad brains. moby

I said this same exact thing to my brother when we were watching his acceptance speech! It feels like their family has such a tight bond and that Barrack and Michelle Obama really love each other aren't in one of those loveless political marriages like we see all the time. I saw them lip "I love you" to each other after his speech was over and it gave me goosebumps.

Those were my thoughts exactly about the Obamas-- that these are parents who spend time with their children because you simply cannot get a child to spontaneously fake affection. Kids have too much integrity and could care less if the world is watching what they do. The way those little girls touch their parents makes it clear they are being raised in an open, safe, loving environment. I, too, am so happy these are the people who will be occupying our house and representing this country. Thank the universe.

it's heard not to believe they're a god send isn't it? we'll have to wait and see though.
if obama is committed enough to do all he can to prevent such things as a runaway greenhouse effect and unnecessary deaths of civilians in places like Afganistan and Iraq then maybe i'll agree with myself in what i just said above.
anyway it was very cool to read that comment below in which pixel reveals that obama's favourite book is Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. wow, if that's true then how likely must it be that he'd want to meet you if he could get the chance... especially being that you are such a strong supporter of his.
