I asked my friend what his information source was for what he said about Sarah Palin wanting to make abortion punishable by death and apparently it was an unsupported conclusion that a friend of his had drawn (a community radio host and a comedian who had been exaggerating).
However here is some referenced information on her views and statements about abortion and the death penalty.
If she were in charge, she would allow abortions only if the mother would otherwise die. [Source: Eagle Forum 2006 Gubernatorial Candidate Questionnaire Jul 31, 2006] This would even apply to her own daughter [Source: Alaska 2006 Governor Debate: AP coverage of public TV debate Nov 3, 2006] She opposes spendinggovernment money on abortions [Source: Anchorage Daily News: 2006 gubernatorial candidate profile Oct 22, 2006] She has correctly said that as Governor, if Roe vs. Wade (the federal court decision that limits the restrictions states can put on abortion) were repealed, it would be up to the Alaska legislature to decide what restrictions to place on abortion [Source: Anchorage Daily News: 2006 gubernatorial candidate profile Oct 22, 2006]. Alaska currently has a "partial-birth abortion" law that makes it a serious felony for a doctor or nurse to perform an abortion too late in pregnancy or using certain methods, but the law does not call for the prosecution of the mother. I can't find a source for this right now, but I know I read that Palin supported a Missouri law that would make the mother and the doctor both guilty of infanticide (a form of murder) for a late-term abortion.
She favors the death penalty. She has called for the imposition of the death penalty for the murder of (presumably any) child [Source: Anchorage Daily News: 2006 gubernatorial candidate profile Oct 22, 2006]. (My friend drew the conclusion from this that if abortion is infanticide, then late-term abortions would also call for the death penalty).

Americans need to hear your political view
I for one, Moby, truly appreciate hearing your political views. You have often enlightened me and I am appreciative of that. I have some kind of weird idealism about the world--that there are no ridiculously stupid people out there who would actually believe that the Republican agenda is the way to go. I mean really--are they so desperate that they have to take the focus off of McCain and place it on Palin because she is "cuter" and therefore, can sell the product easier and are people really falling for it? It is up to everyone of us to use our voices in this election, especially those celebrities like you, Moby, in order to bring about real change in this country through intelligent conversation and sound decision making. So, ...thank you.
