like(from my experience)-

that you've never used a home dishwasher before so you continue to wash dishes in the sink
rather than deal with the new.'

points a & b. hummm...so .. if the show's listings aren't seen, do they really exist? ...ah ....the existential approach. perception. :~) i will go with yes, they exist, but in a muted state, for now.

...central heat and air was this mystical experience when you first felt it.
...scrounging for hopeful loose pennies in the couch then walking to the closest gas station that had a coca-cola icee machine when it was 100 F outside made your freakin' week.
...you had no idea what to use a microwave for, or how to operate it.
...any channel on the tele outside of the major 3, UHF and no matter how crappy the signal, was too good to be true. (at best there were 2 others, and it depended on the weather as to them making an appearance)
...any name brand food item had this glow around it that made it 'special' (kfc included).
...the local gas station employees knew you so well that they would, in fact, sell you the cigarettes for your mom/dad without blinking.
...seeing a hundred dollar bill for the first time - you considered that to be 'art' and stared at it for a little while in amazement.

...there was a tiedown strap used to keep the trunk of your parents car closed, because the lock had been chiseled out due a "mad fit" of locking the keys in the trunk one too many times.
...when the bologna ran out, it was frog giggin' time (personally didn't do this - bologna or frogs, but others did).
...shifting the gears in the car was a matter of reaching down to the floor gear box and performing a manual shift with the fingers.

...when you are about to start screaming with anger and disappointment when your mother/ friend/ sister buys another leather bag or hat or skirt etc. saying "she has nothing to wear".
...when at 21 you learn what fondue is and drink your first bottle of beer which costs more than 3 euro*.
...when after you've drunk that bier you tell your best friends about it and they say it's not worth that.
* in Russia an average beer costs about 1-1,5 euro

You know, here you can buy beer for 0.7$ and it's a typical price:)

you know, in germany a typical price is 35-45 eurocent. etc.
we have different living standards and prices.. in russia you drink very bad beer as average beer. you see, when europeans or americans come here they shouldn`t start their acquaintance with russia with beer - every foreigner I know was disappointed to say the least.
but! compared to Europe we have really cheap tobacco, just as a further example of differencies in prices.
